Understand what professional cleaning addresses
Professional teeth cleaning is a clinic service focused on deposits and oral hygiene. A dental professional may remove plaque, hardened tartar or surface staining after examining your mouth. Cleaning is not the same as whitening natural tooth colour, and it does not replace assessment of tooth pain or gum disease. State the reason for your request so the clinic can book an appropriate visit.
CNR Medicare coordinates the clinic appointment and optional hotel transport. The dentist or dental professional decides which cleaning method suits your teeth and gums. A routine request can become an assessment if the examination reveals a concern that needs attention first.
If your main concern is bleeding when brushing, a cleaning visit may still be part of care, but the dentist should first assess the gums. A booking labelled as “polishing” may be too narrow for that question. State the symptom and how long you have noticed it. The clinician can explain whether routine cleaning, a more detailed periodontal evaluation or another appointment is indicated.
